Over 26 species of bacteria, such as Legionella pneumophila, which can cause pneumonia-like illness called "Legioella Disease" (after the American Legion convention at which the disease first drew attention). These bacteria are known to thrive at 100 degrees F and are believed to live in infected humidifiers, cooling tower water and shower rooms. Infection is by inhalation.
